Short Biography Of Evanescence

[Photo] Formed in 1994, Evanescence is a n American band with unique and
different sounds that play alternative rock/ pop music.

I n the past, Evanescence was Amy Lee, Ben Moody,
and David Hodges. David was the keyboardist, songs
co-writer, and backup vocals in some songs. However, he
left the band in 2002 because he had a more Christian
direction in making music.

Just after David’s departure, Evanescence released their
first single entitled Bring Me to Life in 2003. Their first
album, Fallen, was a big hit and it has been sold for more
than 14,000,000 copies worldwide. They even managed to earn
two Grammy awards for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best
New Artist categories.

The group’s style has also been compared to older female
fronted bands, which most of them come from Europe.
However, Evanescence is a truly unique and original band.
Many people consider that they are rip-offs of Lacuna Coil
just because they appeared years after Lacuna Coil.
The truth is, Evanescence and Lacuna Coil are obviously
different. Moreover, Evanescence and Lacuna Coil were
formed in the same year, 1994.

Evanescence’s second studio album, The Open Door, was
released three years after their debut. The second album
does not feature Ben Moody, who abruptly left the band
during their European tour in 2003. Shortly after his
departure, Terry Balsamo from the band Cold joined
Evanescence. Ever since, line-up changes kept going on
including Tim McCord who replaced bassist William Boyd.

Not long after Will was replaced, guitarist John LeCompt was
reportedly fired and drummer Rocky Gray quitted. However,
in a post on evthreads.com, Amy Lee said that Evanescence
was still alive and well, and they continued touring
with hired band mates until they find the permanent ones.
